An audiologist is a professional hearing specialist who conducts tests and diagnoses hearing problems. Audiologists must complete a bachelor’s degree and either a master’s degree or a doctorate degree in audiology, including 300 hours of direct patient contact. They must pass national boards.
After this preparation, they receive a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A.) This designation following a hearing professional’s name is your assurance of the highest professional standards. To stay up-to-date with the latest advances, audiologists must receive at least 30 hours of continuing education every two years.
