Allergy Season Advice from Dr. Lehman on WESH 2 News

Jeffrey J. Lehman, M.D., F.A.C.S., visited the WESH 2 newsroom to discuss what allergy sufferers can do to navigate this allergy season.
“Allergies are prevalent in Central Florida, particularly this time of year,” says Dr. Lehman.
Symptoms of allergies include:
- Sneezing
- Congestion
- Drainage
- Diminished sense of smell
However, these symptoms may also be a sign of chronic sinusitis which often accompanies allergies. Dr. Lehman explains our warm winter has led to an early pollination of trees and the dry weather has caused the pollen to hang around.
“Allergies can make sinus conditions worse and in fact, some of the most difficult sinus cases that we manage are a combination of severe allergies and sinus blockage and infection,” adds Dr. Lehman.
Dr. Lehman also discussed sinusitis treatment options including the balloon sinuplasty and PROPEL sinus implant procedures available from our Allergy & Sinus Center.
