This test measures the speed in which a sound travels up the hearing nerve through a portion of the brainstem to the brain. Electrodes are placed behind the ears and on the forehead. You will listen to loud clicks in one ear and static-like noise in the other. This test is painless and does not require any special instructions.
We will be placing electrodes on your face, therefore please do not wear any foundation, powder or lotions. Because movement and talking can influence the data being collected, it is strongly recommended that children are deprived from sleep before the test. This means limiting sleep the night before a morning appointment or limiting naps for an afternoon appointment so that they may easily fall asleep during the test.
The test will take approximately 1 hour to complete. The cost of the test is $300.00. We will file your insurance for this test, however, you will be responsible for any remaining balance.
